Magic Warlock Build Guide

The Magic Warlock is a Damage-over-Time caster that locks enemies down with powerful Magic spells from the Chaos tree. Magic damage is one of the best types in the game since very few monsters are immune to it, making this build effective almost everywhere with minimal gear swaps. It plays smoothly as a starter build and scales well into endgame farming.

The core loop is straightforward: use Miasma Chain as your main skill for packs, drop Abyss on large groups, and let the DoT finish everything off. Summon a Defiler and Consume it for a temporary Magic damage boost when you need extra burst.

Skill Build

Since the Warlock is new, optimal allocations are still being refined. Below are the core skills for a Magic-focused Chaos tree build.

Core Skills

Miasma Bolt
Single-target Magic DoT projectile. Your bread-and-butter early skill before Miasma Chain comes online.
Miasma Chain
Primary skill for the build. Chains between enemies applying Magic DoT to entire packs. Use this as your main attack once unlocked.
Enhanced Entropy
Passive that amplifies your Magic damage output. A core part of making the DoT scale into endgame.
Abyss
Large AoE Magic skill for wiping out dense packs. Drop it on big groups and let Miasma Chain handle the rest.

Support Skills

Levitation Mastery (1 point)
Lowers weapon requirements. A single point is enough to equip endgame staves and two-handers more easily.
Summon Defiler
Summons a Defiler that binds enemy souls. More importantly, it serves as fuel for Consume.
Consume
Devour a Defiler to gain a temporary Magic damage boost. Use before engaging tough packs or bosses for extra burst.

Mercenary

Hire an Act 2 Nightmare Desert Guard. Defensive (Holy Freeze) slows enemies for safer casting, while Offensive (Might) boosts your merc's own physical damage. Holy Freeze is the safer pick for this build since your damage comes from spells, not the merc.
