Description

The Horadric Cube is obtained from the Halls of the Dead in Act 2 and is chosen for the creation of Horadric Staff and Khalim's Will.

Besides fulfilling these quest objectives, the cube has many other crafting uses - see Recipes.

Open your inventory, press alt, open your cube (it has to be in your inventory, not in your stash), release alt, and close your cube/inventory.
While only taking up 4 slots worth of inventory space, a Horadric Cube's interior yields 12 slots of internal space.
Just to clarify: To get a cube from the Council Member (on Act 3), the quest must still be incomplete on the current game (or else Khalim's Flail - and the Cube - will not drop) On the other hand, you could get a cube from the Halls of the Dead Level 3 chest even if the quest is already completed on the current game On both…
If you don't get a cube in act 2 you can get one in act 3 when you kill the high Council Member which drops Khalim's Flail.
It takes 14,281,868,906,496 El runes to cube a single Zod rune.
