Edge is a interesting runeword with some unusual stats.

Key details

  • It is one of only two items in the game with 'Reduces All Vendor Prices', with the other being Gheed's Fortune.
  • This property is considered an essential item for any gambler, as it greatly increases the amount of items you can gamble in one sitting.
  • It is also one of two items with Thorns Aura on Equip, with the other being Bramble.
  • You can actually stack Edge and Bramble together to get a level 30-36 Thorns aura.
  • This can be effective in Normal and Nightmare difficulties, but Thorns doesn't scale well in Hell, because of monsters having comparatively low damage relative to their enormous life pools.
  • The other stats are rather solid considering its cheap price: Increased Attack Speed and increased damage to Demons and Undead.
  • Still, DtD% and DtU% often aren't as good as they initially appear, since they are always treated as off-weapon ED% (even if they're on a weapon), meaning it doesn't increase the base damage of the weapon.

  • The reduced vendor price mod is applied separately from the discount given by completing certain act quests: Act 1: The Search for Cain Act 2: Radament's Lair Act 3: Lam Esen's Tome Act 5: Siege on Harrogath Quest-rewarded discounts are 10% off vendor items, but these do not affect gambling prices.
  • I used this bow at level 25 first try and killed Mephisto on normal very good starter bow with 7% Life Stolen Per Hit +320-380% Damage To Demons.
  • One of the most common, if not the main use of Edge is to gamble at NPC for lower prices due to the reduce vendor price mod.
  • Works wonders on Hell Cows This girl does not have to worry for much when you have at full strength a legion of up to 64 summons of various types between you and the mobs.
  • The decreased vendor prices make it an excellent runeword for gambling - combined with a 15% Gheeds it significantly increases the number of items you can gamble before running out of Gold.
  • Edge in a bow is also very helpful when fighting Diablo Clone while providing 'Prevent Monster Heal' on hit.
