Terror Zone Superunique
Herald
Heralds are Hell-only superunique encounters that can emerge as monsters are slain in an active Terror Zone. Each one inherits the promoted monster's combat profile, always carries an aura, and advances the next Herald through five increasingly strong tiers. The progression ends at Herald of Terror; later spawns remain at that tier. A Herald is a new monster variation in Reign of the Warlock that can only appear in Hell difficulty, in terrorized zones. They are spawned by killing enough monsters in terrorized zones. All Herald monsters have a chance of dropping the new Sunder Charms (like Latent Bone Break for instance). Every time a Herald is killed, the next time one spawns, it will be of a higher tier. There are five tiers of Herald. The lowest tier is the weakest and has normal drops, whereas the higher tiers can drop more items and get progressively stronger with every spawn. Every Herald that spawns after Herald of Terror will be a Herald of Terror.

D2Emu Tips
- A lightning storm over a slain monster warns that a Herald will arrive in about 5 s.
- Herald of Fear and Herald of Horror add one item to the standard drop roll; Herald of Terror adds two.
- Every tier has an increased chance to drop a Latent Sunder Charm. Tiers 3–4 receive twice the bonus, and Tier 5 receives three times the bonus.
- Find Item can search a Herald corpse and may produce a Latent Sunder Charm.
- Heralds always spawn Aura Enchanted and can roll a second aura outside the usual pool.
- Avoid creating Heralds from flying monsters, which can spawn over impassable terrain and become unreachable or fail to drop loot; avoid Frozen Horror bases when planning to use Find Item because they leave no corpse.
- Herald spawn chance rises as you kill more monsters in the same Terror Zone, and each spawned Herald advances the next tier.
- Latent Sunder Charms can drop from any monster when you have Magic Find; Heralds receive an additional drop chance.
