The Countess
A fire-enchanted Dark Stalker at the bottom of the Forgotten Tower. The Countess is well known for her high chances to drop runes. She is often farmed early on in the game to collect the runes required for an early runeword including Stealth, and to bolster rune stocks for future runewords including Spirit.

- Clear space in the tower room before finishing the Fire Enchanted Countess so her death burst does not overlap pressure from her pack.
- Her maximum rune is Ral in Normal, Ko in Nightmare, and Lo in Hell, but the special rune drop only reaches Io in Nightmare and Ist in Hell; higher runes come from her much rarer normal drop.
- On each Forgotten Tower floor, look to the left of the entrance tile's facing direction to find the exit path.
- Due to how her special rune drop works, if you're farming The Countess for runes you should (counterintuitively) kill her in /players 1 difficulty.
- Higher player counts improve the Countess's Key of Terror chance, even though /players 1 is preferable for her special rune drop.
