Description

Witchwild String is an unpopular, but potent choice for bowazons.

Key details

  • The more favored alternatives are Faith and Windforce.
  • Slightly weaker options include Buriza-Do Kyanon and Goldstrike Arch.
  • The chance to cast Amplify Damage coupled with Deadly Strike and the two sockets are what makes this item shine.
  • The Deadly Strike reduces the need for Highlord's Wrath and lets it be replaced with Atma's Scarab for more Amplify Damage.
  • Unlike most bows, it sports a major bonus to all resistances, which is critical for bowazons as they can't use a shield and are thus very low on resistances.
  • Its weaknesses are its low damage without Deadly Strike and Amplify Damage, while its lack of IAS is remedied by putting 15 IAS jewels or Shael Runes into the sockets.
  • Amazons that wield Witchwild String are referred to as Witchyzons.

  • It does however fire the Magic Arrow skill without paying the mana cost and converts 20% of the physical damage to magic damage, which helps against physical immune monsters.
  • As of Patch 2.4, the "Fires Magic Arrows [Level 20]" attribute on Witchwild String converts 43% of the physical damage of all generic Attacks into magic damage.
  • This is a nice bow for leveling, even if kept on a weapon swap with something else as your main.
  • So it makes perfectly sense to have weapon with less max damage.
