Akara

Akara is the high priestess of the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye. Reserved and wary of outsiders, she nevertheless turns to the player for help as the corruption around the Rogue Encampment grows.

Alkor

Alkor is a distracted potion dealer who would rather read and mutter over his books than attend to customers. Despite his disinterest, he serves as one of Kurast Docks' useful traders.

Anya

Anya is the daughter of a clan elder slain by Baal and has been prepared from birth to lead her people. Her training spans history, magic, and healing, and she suppresses her grief to remain strong for Harrogath.

Asheara

Asheara leads the Iron Wolves mercenary company. Tough but approachable, she fights alongside her company and keeps it funded by hiring out warriors and selling equipment.

Atma

Atma owns Lut Gholein's public house and grieves for the family she lost to the evil beneath the city. She looks to a capable hero to avenge her husband and son.

Charsi

Charsi is the Rogue Encampment's blacksmith. Her easygoing manner hardens whenever the demonic invasion is mentioned, and she supplies the Sisters and visiting heroes with practical arms and armor.

Deckard Cain

Deckard Cain is a Horadric scholar whose knowledge of ancient history and magic guides the player throughout the journey. He begins imprisoned in Tristram and later appears in every act once rescued.

Drognan

Drognan is an elderly mage of an unknown clan who keeps his counsel unless the situation is important. His expertise makes him Lut Gholein's principal vendor for magical weapons and supplies.

Elzix

Elzix is a former bandit king who survived repeated assassination attempts, traded his knowledge for freedom, and became an innkeeper in Lut Gholein. His past leaves him unusually well informed about events in the desert.

Fara

Fara once served the Church of Light as a holy warrior before leaving over its corruption. She now equips Lut Gholein's guards and mercenaries while preserving her commitment to order and justice.

Flavie

Flavie is a Rogue scout posted beyond the Rogue Encampment. She watches the road through the Blood Moor and warns travelers about the dangers past the Den of Evil.

Geglash

Geglash is Lut Gholein's fearless resident braggart, usually found drinking and boasting. For all his bravado, he refuses to approach water or board a ship.

Gheed

Gheed is a smooth-talking traveling merchant established in the Rogue Encampment. His flattering manner accompanies a broad mundane inventory and a willingness to gamble with anyone carrying enough gold.

Greiz

Greiz is the hard-edged captain of Lut Gholein's hired guards. He maintains order through force and leads the desert warriors available to accompany the player.

Hadriel

Hadriel is the angel standing watch in the River of Flame. He guards the route into the Chaos Sanctuary as the player approaches Diablo's stronghold.

Halbu

Halbu is the Pandemonium Fortress's warrior-smith. He maintains equipment and sells the martial supplies needed for the campaign through Hell.

Hratli

Hratli is a sorcerer-smith who combines metalworking with magic. His sharp tongue and premium prices match a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship.

Izual

Izual was once Tyrael's trusted companion before falling from Heaven's grace. Imprisoned within a demonic body beyond the Pandemonium Fortress, he holds secrets that are revealed only after his release.

Jamella is a warrior-merchant serving the Pandemonium Fortress. She supports the campaign against Diablo with healing, a broad shop inventory, and gambling.

Jerhyn

Jerhyn is Lut Gholein's young ruler. Popular with his people but short of soldiers and time, he struggles to contain the growing evil inside and beyond his palace.

Kaelan

Kaelan is the guard stationed at the entrance to Jerhyn's palace in Lut Gholein. His role is to control access to the palace as the act's events unfold.

Kashya

Kashya commands the Rogue mercenaries. Blunt and battle-hardened, she remains skeptical of outsiders until the player proves worthy of the Sisterhood's trust.

Larzuk

Larzuk is Harrogath's passionate young blacksmith, committed to supplying the defenders until the war against Baal is decided. He takes pride in forging the settlement's blades, plate, and mail.

Lysander

Lysander is Lut Gholein's irritable alchemist. Years of explosive experiments have left him nearly deaf, but he remains the city's specialist potion dealer.

Malah

Malah is Harrogath's veteran healer. Kind and hopeful despite years of war, she tends the wounded while fearing that neither her people nor Sanctuary will fully recover.

Meshif

Meshif is a friendly sea captain with a keen interest in gold, gems, and valuable curios. He connects Lut Gholein with Kurast and is dismayed by what has happened to the once-great city.

Nihlathak

Nihlathak is the last surviving elder of Harrogath. Grief, guilt, and the apparent failure to protect the Worldstone have driven him toward madness as he obsesses over the choices his clan might have made.

Ormus

Ormus is a mage known as the mad poet, speaking in riddles and verse. Beneath the cryptic manner is a knowledgeable member of a powerful magical order who aids the defense of Kurast.

Qual-Kehk

Qual-Kehk is Harrogath's battered but respected Master at Arms. Though he expects a costly final defense, he remains focused on the battlefield and commands the loyalty of the surviving warriors.

The Dark Wanderer

The Dark Wanderer is the corrupted hero who carries Diablo's soulstone after the events beneath Tristram. Drawn east by the Lord of Terror, he crosses Sanctuary while Diablo steadily consumes what remains of his humanity.

Tyrael

Tyrael is the archangel who tried to stop Diablo from freeing Baal. After that effort failed, he continues to guide the player as Terror and Destruction threaten Sanctuary.

Warriv

Warriv leads the caravan stranded at the Rogue Encampment. His guarded demeanor softens after the eastern pass is reopened, and he then carries travelers between the first two acts.
