Key details
- Venom: Skill caps the poisoning duration at 0.4 seconds, which prevents long-term poisoning.
- Consequently, all other items will only inflict poison damage for 0.4 seconds.
- Example: Though 700 damage over 10 seconds can seem impressive, only 28 damage will be inflicted because of the 0.4 seconds cap.

- Venom causes all other poison damage sources to also terminate after 0.4 seconds.
- The only time you have to worry about the true duration (in Venom's case, 0.4 seconds, or 10 frames), is when you're checking whether you meet or exceed the listed duration with your attack, so you're doing the most damage/time possible(10 frames or below, in Venom's case).
- Patch 2.4: Venom Buff Duration scaling per level changed from 4 seconds to 12 seconds (matching Burst of Speed and Fade).
- Venom: Skill will not cut poison length when paired with the skills: Poison Dagger Rabies Poison Javelin Plague Javelin.
