Description

One of the new patch 2.4 runewords, Obsession calls for a six socket staff to build and grants strong late-game stats.

Key details

  • Its life, mana, resistances, and additional +stats make it a good gap filler on the defensive side, plus it has an MF modifier and whopping +4 to all skills (which can be further increased to +7 on up to three Sorceress skills by the base staff's staffmods).
  • These modifiers may make Obsession a favored alternative to using a Spirit Monarch + Heart of the Oak/ The Oculus for Sorceresses.

D2Emu Tips

  • It's actually better than i thought it would be. recovering the str needed to equip the Spirit Monarch and putting those points into vit was an extra few hundred base life. i'm still well over 105% fcr breakpoint and enjoying the extra damage since i put it in a staff with +3 to Frozen Orb.
  • Obsession was ladder only during Patch 2.4 and Patch 2.5 (Ladder Season 1 & 2).
  • If you really want to optimize this rune word looks for +3 to your main skill and +3 to that branch’s mastery too.
  • Faster Cast Rate/Faster Hit Recovery: You hit both of the most desirable Sorceress breakpoints with 65 Faster Cast Rate and 60 Faster Hit Recovery.
  • All it actually takes is to obtain a proper weapon base +3 to your build skills.
  • This may be actually BiS (instead of Heart of the Oak) for the new Warlock class since he can wield 2h weapons in 1h + a shield.
