Key details

  • In terms of weapon speed and overall DPS, the Giant Thresher is very much like the Thresher.
  • Still, the Giant Thresher has a few distinct differences, the most notable being its elevated strength and dexterity requirements (while a high level mercenary will have no trouble equipping it).
  • A Giant Thresher can roll up to 6 open sockets, in contrast to a Thresher's max roll of 5.
  • Additionally, the Giant Thresher's quality level (qlvl) 85 makes it among the rarest base drops in the game.

D2Emu Tips

  • The Giant Thresher has the highest total attribute requirements of any base item in the game.
  • The faster attack speed for Crushing Blow is huge on otherwise un-one-shottable health pools, but for taking out Fallen and foul crows, you want your Mercenary to one-hit as many mobs as possible and get to a new, real target.
  • Excellent base for making the main Act II Mercenary runewords, such as Insight, Infinity, Obedience, and Pride.
  • The Lord of Destruction expansion pack has been out for more than two decades and I am still unsure if this item is a Thresher that is giant, a Thresher for giants, or a tool with which to thresh giants.
